Encore Boston Harbor Site Visit
#EncoreBostonHarbor topped the list of #Forbes 17 Most Anticipated Hotel Openings Of 2019. A lucky few #ConstructionManagment students from #WentworthCMClub are leaving @ 11am tomorrow! RSVP today only a few seats left!
The Construction Management students will have the opportunity to see how something as decimating as the Monsanto Chemical Plant site has been transformed into a sustainable construction project. Not only has the project been economically successful by starting to employ 5000+ full-time residents from the local community staring June 2019 but the Encore site spent a total of $68 Million dollars in soil cleanup, inlet dredging, and living shoreline work. That is $38 Million more than originally committed. This project is one of many in the Boston area that is considered a success in helping reduce carbon emission within the built environment, build sustainably and responsibly, as well as providing jobs in the ever-changing construction industry. If you are interested in knowing more we would love to hear from you!

The build-out of the WIT CM Club and Northeastern University joint-venture can sculpture was a success last weekend! Please stop by the BSA Space in the Seaport District to view the final sculpture through October 25th, 2016! Our sculpture is located on the second floor across from the stairs. You can’t miss it once you arrive on the second level! We would love to hear your comments and review of the structure if you end up visiting the competition site!

Overview of our Design – Bat(can)man vs. The Riddler:
Riddle me this, “When do the Hero’s fight Hunger?”…
Answer: When Canstruction Comes to town!
Meanwhile at Canstruction Boston The Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT) and Northeastern University (NEU) Team has begun the battle against hunger as Bat(can) Man takes on the Riddler in an epic battle of good vs. evil. Our Bat(can)man Vs. The Riddler can structure places Batman against one of his archenemy’s The Riddler.
Will Bat(can)man Prevail? Will the WIT & NEU Team be victorious in this battle? Will Canstruction Boston help take a bite out of Hunger!?

Download The WIT CM Dept. App!
The WIT CM Department has developed an app called “Future Construction Managers.” It has been designed to provide an informative look at the typical tasks of a CM team member through a fun and interactive interface.
“Learn the ins and outs of four different construction management positions by interacting with construction managers of varying expertise.”
The CM Club constantly follows developing stories related to projects under construction in the Boston area. We recently ran across an interesting article which summarizes 18 of the most prominent projects under construction in our home city! We thought we would share – click on the image below to be directed to the Curbed Article:
Please send us an email at email@example.com if you would like to tour any of these projects! If we have enough interest, we may be able to setup a site visit during the upcoming fall semester.
WE NEED YOUR CANS! – DONATE FOR CANSTRUCTION!
The CM Club has been accepted to compete in this year’s Canstruction Boston Event! We have teamed up with Northeastern University to design and construct a sculpture made of canned goods, which will be on display at Atlantic Wharf, throughout the month of October. The theme for this year’s competition is “Heroes vs. Villains.” Our design will be a play on Batman vs. The Riddler!
We have setup collection boxes for a can drive in all of the WIT residence halls and the main Construction Management Department office. Please donate to help raise hunger awareness! This is a great opportunity for graduating seniors to offload leftover canned food and use any remaining meal plan money!
Currently, our design calls for the following:
Standard Size Cans:
Subtotal: 881 cans
Tuna Sized Cans:
Subtotal: 232 cans
Total Cans: 1113
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions! We look forward to the event and hope that you can donate to assist us in our preparation for the build in October!
If you are interested in how to utilize emerging technology within the construction industry, this event is for you! Apply now to reserve your spot. There are currently only 6 spots available for the fall event!
